ABOUT THE POSITION

Senior Electrical Engineer – Transit & Rail | Hybrid | New York, NY

VHB is seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer – Transit & Rail to join our dynamic and growing Transportation practice in New York. This position offers the opportunity to contribute to complex transit infrastructure projects while helping expand and shape our Transit & Rail Power group.

Responsibilities

• Prepare design drawings and documents, technical specifications, cost estimates, proposals, calculations, and studies
• Prepare final design documentation for electrical infrastructure which could include facility power and systems, lighting, low voltage and security systems for various infrastructure projects in the northeast
• Develop plans, specifications, reports, and analyses that meet project scope, schedule, cost, and quality requirements
• Review contractor design drawings and specifications to ensure compliance with system requirements
• Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior staff

Skills and Attributes

• Familiarity with railway infrastructure systems design preferred
• Demonstrated excellence in verbal presentations and technical writing
• Team-oriented with the ability to work independently
• Strong technical and critical thinking skills
• Detail-oriented and committed to high-quality deliverables
• Strong project and task management abilities

Qualifications

• 8+ years of electrical design engineering experience required
• Proficiency in AutoCAD or MicroStation required
• BS in Electrical Engineering or related field required; MS preferred
• Knowledge of industry safety code requirements and standards
• Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred

Our best estimate of the salary range for this position located in New York City is $115,000 - $148,000. This offer is determined based on a number of job-related factors including internal comparators, skills, education, training, credentials, experience, scope and complexity of role responsibilities and geographic location.
